1. Normal Seedling (normal_seedling)

Healthy, vigorous germination. Features a long, intact root (typically several times the length of the seed) and a balanced shoot or cotyledons.

Badge color: Emerald Green. Ready for field establishment.

2. Abnormal Seedling (abnormal_seedling)

Germinated, but displays defective or stunted development: deformed, shortened, or missing root/shoot; spiral or twisted hypocotyl; necrotic lesions or mechanical cracking.

Badge color: Amber/Yellow. Will not develop into a productive plant under normal soil conditions.

3. Hard Seed (hard_seed)

Intact, plump seed that has remained completely hard and unswollen because its seed coat is impermeable to water. No sprout emergence.

Badge color: Blue. Characteristic of legumes and hard-seeded species requiring scarification.

4. Dead Seed (dead_seed)

Seeds that failed to germinate and absorbed water to become soft, discoloured, dull, shrivelled, or decayed by fungal/bacterial rot.

Badge color: Slate Grey. Non-viable seed.

Bitter Gourd (Momordica charantia)

Normal Long vigorous root (>3x seed length) & root hairs.

Abnormal Blunt stunted white radicle (<2-3mm).

Hard Seed Plump, uncracked, no emergence.

Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea)

Normal Slender taproot, purple anthocyanin band, yellow-green tips.

Abnormal Stunted (<1cm), twisted or hooked radicle.

Hard Seed Tiny dark round seed, unswollen, no sprout.

Hot Pepper (Capsicum)

Normal Long undulating white root (>3-4x seed diameter).

Abnormal Hooked radicle barely cracked open (<3mm).

Hard Seed Flat tan disc seed, intact, unsprouted.

Pole Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)

Normal Thick hypocotyl, vigorous branching roots & root hairs.

Abnormal Single thin stunted root lacking lateral branching.

Hard Seed Smooth plump green bean, unswollen, no radicle.
